Works In Progress, Entry 16

I got some more work done on Kovnik Markov.  I recolored his base, got some highlights on the edges, recolored his face.

But what I did discover was that taking a good picture of the model is a factor since I am posting WIP shots online.

Right now, I think Markov is about 90% done.  Some more last details that need to be done:

• Basework: cleanup and the front arc marks
• The horse's hair stuff: I tried out Trollblood Base on it so I'll see how it goes from there
• The horse's leg straps
• Cleaning up areas on the horse's skin
• Considering some freehand on Markov's cape

I'm still targeting to get him done before the Bunker gaming tomorrow so hopefully I can get to play a game using him fully-painted.

Works In Progress, Entry 14

One of two Greylord Escort Unit Attachments for Doom Reavers about 96% done. It just needs some more coats of P3 Thamar Black on the rim, maybe a front arc mark, and yeah, that rock needs some grey.

Infernal heat out earlier this afternoon.  Setting aside further procrastination, I decided to get some much-needed basework done for the following models:

• The Butcher of Khardov 2010
• Koldun Kapitan Valachev
• Greylord Escorts (x2)
• Battle Mechaniks (full unit)

Preparation is key. I use super glue for the small rocks and pebbles on my bases.

Terrain Project - Hills

I have been playing at the Bunker for quite some time, and the pretty tables there have the sloping hill terrain from Games Workshop.  Playing on it makes for quite the experience but with WARMACHINE/HORDES where elevation needs to be a precise inch over the surface, it poses some difficulty to figure if a model is elevated (or not) on those hills.

As part of a solution, I took to my styro-cutter and a big 2-inch high foam.

Yeah, that thing will be huge.  I placed a Widowmaker Marksman behind it and it won't be easily visible - the way a proper hill should be - compared to the "elevated mounds" we are used to play with around here.

For the past few days, the heat here in the Philippines has been INFERNAL.  Which is good, because it helped dry up the paint job on the terrain fast.

Butcher Love

I got to do a more in-depth demo for Maybelle Sy last Friday at Lito's Bunker featuring 15PC forces led by the Butcher of Khardov and the Old Witch of Khador.

My third game was a 15PC game was against a relatively new Cygnar player, Louie de Guzman.  Apparently they (him and his gaming group, including the two Johns) have been playing a lot at their homes with small pointages.  It was good that they saw several 35PC games to whet their appetite, something to look forward to, so to speak.

I didn't get to take much pics of our game then, again because my phone was on low battery already.  I'll try to get some more pics, and prepare the cam battery better.

WMH Game 11 - Dark Champion Vlad versus Lich Lord Asphyxious

I got to play several games at Fortress.  My first one was up against veteran, Fred Escalona, and his Cryx army. With our game, he used Lich Lord Asphyxious and a horde of Banes in a Steamroller 2011 Overrun scenario!

True to the objective, my Khador forces sped forward, hoping to overrun the opponent!

I got to play against SJ Quema's Grim Angus in a heavily-forested table with my infantry-heavy eVlad list.  I knew it was an uphill challenge for me, but I dared to see how I would fare.

Works In Progress, Entry 11

I decided to put some more hobby work in today, and upload some pics I took a few days back.

A good friend, Jake de Jesus, asked to have his Trollblood warlock, Captain Gunnbjorn, painted.  I did paint some Trollbloods for him already (Click here to view), so I already got the paint style down.

As always, I started giving Gunnbjorn a dishwashing liquid bath. I have a steel brush and a denim glove for scrub work.

Continuing with "playing with stuff at home that I don't play much with", I opted to go for another try using Dark Prince Vlad and just heavy warjacks.  I got to play against Dick Sy and his newly-acquired Cryx army, specifically a shitload of Mechanithralls led by Lich Lord Venethrax!

My second game that evening at the Bunker was against Jake de Jesus and his Trollbloods. Sadly he was missing some of his models due to some misunderstanding (hope you get those back, man), but he still aced up for a 25PC match!
